Brian Colaco

Brian Colaco is a singer-songwriter, music producer, and composer with a passion for praise and worship music. He has written over 200 songs and produced albums for Pauline Communications, as well as singles for various artists and organizations.
Brian’s musical journey began with a divine experience during a youth retreat, which inspired him to serve God through music. Remarkably, he learned to play the keyboard by observing other musicians and experimenting with chords and melodies on his own. Known as the “cardboard guitarist,” Brian practiced chord shapes on a cardboard strip marked like a guitar fretboard until he received his first real guitar as a confirmation gift.
Brian left his job as a machine operator at Nestlé India, seeking a more fulfilling path. He served as a youth coordinator in Old Goa with the late Fr. Lewis Gomes, where he had the honor of playing for the exposition of St. Francis Xavier’s sacred relics. Later, he moved to Mumbai to work for the Academy of Music, where he trained students for Trinity College certificate exams. Disheartened by the focus on grades over passion, he also taught music at Podar International School in Santa Cruz (West) and attended numerous workshops to enhance his teaching skills.
In addition to teaching, Brian regularly performed at Tabor retreats and various prayer meetings. He furthered his education by studying music production and audio engineering, collaborating with artists and producers in Mumbai, and contributing vocals and raps to jingles. A personal crisis led him back to Goa, where he recognized a significant need for musical guidance for children and established “Keys And Strings.”
Frustrated by the lack of suitable teaching materials, Brian taught himself graphic design and video editing, personally designing all the instructional books used at Keys And Strings. His teaching philosophy emphasizes constant jam sessions and the practical application of music theory, fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
